Yes, it is bit old, 7 years and a bit slow but for me it is fine. It is stable, if you drastically kill out all the unnecessary processes. Like an oldtimer/youngtimer I enjoy it not for the speed.
I don't know what is wrong with them, you didn't write much, but maybe you should replace the battery.
7 years is almost twice the average time to upgrade, go out and shop for something like a redmi
