The Lava Prowatch ZN is the round watch and the more premium of the two. It has a zinc alloy body and a choice between stainless steel and silicone for the straps. The watch has been tested to be resistant against corrosion with salt sprays and is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance.

The display is a 1.43” circular OLED with 466 x 466px resolution. It runs at 60Hz and can get up to 600 nits of brightness, an always-on display mode is available. Keeping with the theme of durability, the display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

The two Prowatches run a proprietary OS rather than Google Wear. They can handle Bluetooth calling (95dB speaker), notifications (with quick replies) along camera and music controls. There is a voice assistant available too, plus some built-in games.

The focus is on sports and health tracking. The ZN has 110+ sports modes to choose from. It is equipped with heart rate and SpO2 sensors, a step counter, can measure stress and track your sleep.

The ZN watch stands out with its battery – the 350mAh power cell can get it through 7 days of normal usage or 3 days if you use Bluetooth calling. The most impressive stat is the fast charging – 100% is reached in 1 hour.

The Lava Prowatch VN is the rectangular watch and it is the more affordable of the two. It uses a 1.96” LCD with 320 x 386px resolution and 500 nits of brightness. It also runs at 60Hz refresh rate and has an always-on mode.

The chassis is made out of a zinc alloy and only comes with silicone straps. Note that the water resistance rating is IP67, but the watch has still undergone corrosion testing with a salt water spray.

The battery is smaller at 230mAh and promises 5 days of normal usage, 2 days with Bluetooth calling (90dB speaker). Recharging is much slower and takes 2 and a half hours.

It has the same sports and health tracking features as its round sibling – heart rate and SpO2, steps and stress, sleep tracking as well. The same notification features, music and camera controls, even the built-in games.

Google wear is very power hungry. Google really needs to tweak that.

Special launch price being 50% off is a joke. They should have priced it more and said 99% off instead.
