Jio Android 5G

Reliance Jio is bringing 5G connectivity to India, and we’ve heard rumors about an in-house smartphone enabled for the next-gen network for the past months.

Today, a device with the model number LS1654QB5 passed through Geekbench, and we expect it to be the first Jio Phone 5G. The chipset is Snapdragon 480+, an 8 nm platform launched in October 2021.

Jio Phone 5G appears on Geekbench with Snapdragon 480+

This is the second time we hear about such a phone with a Snapdragon 480 chipset. The first rumor suggested 4 GB RAM and Android 11, although we can see on Geekbench Jio is going further and will bring Android 12 to this device.

Jio has been working with Google to create Pragati OS - a custom Android for JioPhone Next, and we may or may not see the same user interface in the upcoming device. If we can trust the previous rumor, we can expect a 6.5” LCD with HD+ resolution, a 13 MP triple camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging through a USB-C port.
