Apple unveiled the iPhone 11 trio, which offers new features while keeping the old price tags – in fact, the base iPhone 11 dropped $50 compared to the XR from last year. But the iPhone XR got even cheaper and so did the iPhone 8. Those two remain available as more affordable alternatives to the 11th generation phones.
The Apple iPhone XR now costs $600 for the 64GB model. Brits are looking at £630, folks in mainland Europe are looking at around €700 (€10-40 more in some countries). If you have an old iPhone to trade in, Apple will knock up to $200/£160/€160 off the price. An iPhone 7 Plus (in good condition) will score you the maximum discount.
The iPhone 8 is just $450 in the US. The UK price is £480 and mainland Europe again sees some variability, but the lowest price is €530. The trade-in deal is smaller here, $120/£70/€70.
Note that these prices are for 64GB storage. There’s an option for 128GB, which is a $50/£50/€50 upgrade for both phones.
For comparison, the iPhone XR launched last year at $750/£750/€850. The iPhone 8 started at $700/£700/€800 in 2017 and was discounted last year to $600/£600/€680.
By the way, the Apple Watch Series 3 was discounted as well - the GPS model now starts at $200/£200/€230. If you a watch with cellular connectivity, the price is $300/£300/€330. The Apple Watch Series 4 has been discontinued.
Half year old Samsung phones like S10 cost half price. Apple 2 years old phones are only 50 eur cheaper. Why??? Because apple set this price this way. If Xiaomi redmi K20 for example after 2 years will still sells for 350 euros it will be bec...
