iPhone SE (2022) will apparently still look like something from 2017

Apple iOS Rumors

In early 2021, some rumors talked about the next iPhone SE having a more modern-looking design. Now, though, through an 'update' to one such rumor, we're told that actually the iPhone SE (2022) will have the same design as the iPhone SE (2020), which in fact reused the design of the iPhone 8 from 2017.

That's definitely going to look out of place in the mobile world this year, with practically all phones, including budget blowers, settling for the 'all-screen' look. The new iPhone SE will have none of that, though. Then again, iPhone SE buyers don't seem to care how outdated their device's design is, as long as it remains the cheapest iPhone to get, they'll get it - for that reason. Oh, and this time around, there will be 5G built-in too.

*Update to this tweet!* The iPhone SE with a similar design to the XR/11 with a slightly smaller screen size, has been pushed back to an expected release of 2024. For 2022, Apple will instead release an iPhone SE with 5G, a spec bump, and the same design as the 2020 model.

It's probably Apple's strangest mobile product, the iPhone SE, with its two-year refresh cycle (unheard of elsewhere, even in Apple's own portfolio) - and those refreshes only 'refresh' something in the design department every other generation, as in - every four years! But, again, none of this matters, people are going to keep buying the iPhone SE because it's the only cheap iPhone.

In 2024, by the way, the iPhone SE should get a design reminiscent of the iPhone XR and iPhone 11, only with a slightly smaller screen size. It won't get Face ID, but will allegedly come with a Touch ID sensor embedded in the power button. A full two years from now, you'll get such amazing innovations on the iPhone SE. Worth the wait? You be the judge.

Windows 7 looks like something from 2009. Still looks better than Windows 11 though imo. The iPhone SE 2022 has the boxy screen and home button, which I love.
