Instagram has started testing creating and publishing posts on desktop. The feature was spotted by social media consultant Matt Navarra, who shared screenshots on Twitter, revealing users will have pretty much the same control over photos and their appearance in the News Feed.
A quick glance of how Instagram on desktop works
Some users should be getting a Plus icon, but it will work only for posts for now with stories and reels not yet supported. After an image is added by dragging or manually browsing folders, you will have the choice to crop the image, then edit it with filters or with the more detailed options.
Once everything is finished with preparing the image, the last panel will give the options to add captions, location, tag people, and all the Advanced Settings like turning off comments, hiding likes and views, sharing options, etc.
Facebook, Instagram’s parent, has confirmed to that many people use the social network from their computer, so the teams at Menlo Park are A/B testing the feature to create a Feed post.
