Apple will start shipping the iPhone 15 on September 22, and for the first time, devices made in India will be available to customers in the Asian country from Day 1. Units manufactured in the Tamil Nadu plant will also reach “other regions” where they will be available alongside those made in China.
Apple previously shipped Made-in-India iPhones later than the initial launch date. Analysts believe the move is a testament to Apple's trust and confidence in its partners about the security and privacy aspect of the whole operations in India. It is also a step towards diversifying the manufacturing capacity in light of the geopolitical tensions between the United States and China.
The Foxconn factory in India manufactures iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus devices. It is one of three suppliers, the other two being Asus-owned Pegatron and Wistron, formerly part of Acer but soon going under the wing of Indian Tata Group.
Prices in India begin from INR79,990 for the iPhone 15 and INR89,990 for the 15 Plus, both with 128 GB storage.
stock price of apple dropped because investors are not happy that their country USA does not have the expertise to produce iphones but only brand them. hahahaha.
