Huawei HarmonyOS Announcement

The new Pura 70 lineup from Huawei comes in four trims with the Pura 70 Ultra being the most impressive of them all. It shares the same core specs as the Pura 70 Pro+ but comes with an exclusive vegan leather back and a mightier camera setup with a 1-inch main sensor with retractable lens and variable aperture.

Huawei added a retractable mechanism to the 50 MP main camera's lens which pops the camera up when in use. The rotating telescopic lens features an intricate motorized structure which Huawei tested for 300,000 cycles of expansion and contraction.

The main shooter also gets a variable f/1.6 - 4.0 lens and features a 22.5mm focal length. Huawei introduced a new XD Motion engine to help handle fast moving objects.

The second module on the back is a 50 MP telephoto lens with a 90 mm f/2.1 lens with OIS and 3.5x optical zoom. The telephoto camera also doubles as a macro shooter, allowing you to get as close as 5cm from your subject with its 35x super macro mode. The ultrawide shooter has a 40 MP sensor and 13mm equivalent focal length.

AI is the buzzword of the year and Huawei added AI photo cloud enhancement for photos and the option to delete subjects from shots and retouch images.

The rest of the specs include a quad-curved 6.8-inch LTPO OLED screen with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The panel is rated at 2,500 nits peak brightness and features a 13 MP front-facing camera and UD fingerprint scanner. It features the latest generation Kunlun glass like the Pura 70 Pro and Pro+.

Pura 70 Ultra also features Huawei's new Kirin 9010 chipset featuring an 8-core CPU - 1x 2.3 GHz + 3x 2.18 GHz + 4x 1.55 GHz. It is rumored to be manufactured on a 7nm process locally in China like the Kirin 9000s inside the Mate 60 series.

Elsewhere, Pura 70 Ultra brings dual satellite connectivity with Beidou and Tiantong support for messages, images, and calls. The device is IP68 rated and features a 5,200 mAh battery with 100W wired charging, 80W wireless, and 20W reverse charging. The software side is covered by HarmonyOS 4.2.

I don't think that the reason of those devices not going global is 5G. They lack chips, they can't even fulfill the Chinese market needs. And it's pretty obvious Chinese support their own phones better than other people around the worl...
