Disappointing and absolutely pointless device. Telephoto and ultrawide cameras are same as in my P30. No 3.5 mm jack. No IP68 protection. No USB-PD charging. Ugly disproportional front camera hole. Better to be round and on right side. Still as big as P30. They didn't improve ergonomics. iPhone 11 and Galaxy S20 are more compact. S20 is 69 mm wide, which is much better for one hand usage.
No a single reason for me to switch to P40 from P30 at all.

So no 3.5mm jack, still too big for a proper compact, no FM radio and all for a tempting price of £WTF. Seriously missed a trick here.

In Amazon and especially eBay you can find crazy deals for LG's flagships. There's a seller called "yywireless" which sells the LGs for jaw-dropping prices. One of my friends bought a G8 from them for $190 and it totally looked like new!
Trust me, buying an LG flagship is like buying a Phone/DAP. You'll have a premium flagship phone that sounds as good as $200-$300 DAPs.

With GMS it would be best flagship at reasonable price: FLAT SCREEN, 5G, telephoto, main rear 50MP with biggest sensor, USB 3.1 for desktop mode (S20, Mi 10 are much worse). Unfortunately without GMS it's not worth even half that price.

Same problem as P30 with same RYYB sensor replacing green pixel with yellow pixel : yellowish pictures even in day time....bad

I think from here on my only options are going to be either Xiaomi's Redmi K Pro series or LG phones. :(((

Man.. It's literally the same phone as the p30.. Except for the cameras that i don't expect to be a lot better than they are already
I would still go for the p30
Saving more money.. Practically the same phone.. Plus Google services
I have it now.. And I'm extremely happy with it

Great battery life
Good screen

I think between this device and the rest of the series Huawei really have pushed for huge improvements all of this today with the announcement of the new UK store plus new products really shows how hardworking Huawei are with setting the barr, People forget that GMS devices are battery draining, so some of the negative comments here you're forgetting that HMS helps regulate battery consumption VS Gms devices #Fact. Soon as this lands i'll be getting the p40 pro

3800 mAh not shit, my P30 works up to 7 days in non active mode, it has less battery capacity. 7nM doing it power saving work.
Big disadvantage for me is lack of Google services, 5G hard to find. Still P30 because of price is very good buy.

They could have made p40 lite compact too but i guess dimensions below 150 cm h and 75 w is now considered a premium feature.
