One piece of advice from me after using it for Months.. Dont buy Mate 50
I've been using Huawei product for decade but this Mate 50 is a truly disappointment.
The device will overheat every time you charge, take 5 min picture or video.. and thats not it.. once its overheated the speaker sound will starts to break, and voila.. when you got a call in during that period you will have hard time listening to the person talk.. it will sound sandy and breaky till your device cools down. it doesnt matter if you use loudspeaker or not.
I have send in to Huawei service 5 times.. first they exchange it with a new set (since im using it only for 1 week and realize this issue) after getting the new set it still happens.. so i thought ill use it for another month first.. end up the same. Go up to the service for repair instead.. but its a waste of time. they have to wait for HQ in CHINA to send spare part that tooks them 2 week + and still end up with the same issue ..they end up with no solution and gave me a bullshit answer.. Dont put cover, Dont use lens protector on the camera and etc etc.. really F up excuses .. have told them that it happen even before i put screen protector or any of the thing they mentioned.. bt they BS me twice like dafuq.. did you read my msg or not ..
Is satelittemessaging available in europa?
I wish I could afford any of the Mate 50 range. I own an Huawei nova 9, it takes great photos the screen is really good the mono speaker is loud with a good depth of sound. Without installing any Google obtaining apps (G Space, G box, or (so Iv'e heard) lighthouse) I can access my Gmail, YouTube etc. and using Petal search I can obtain any app I may need. I am not a great fan of Google in the sense that I need it day to day. In fact I have no need of anything else as all I need can be found in thr Huawei app store. Petal maps is improving daily and in many respects already surpasses Google maps. Having said all that I would like a mate 50 it probably has face unlock and screen fingerprint unlock like my nova 9, but has better camera tech zooming shots.
i read the feature of the pro version and i found that i do not need the feature on the pro version. so this is good for me at the price point.
No face id?

Okay, this is the term to describe "fake" optical zoom on a smartphone:
"multi-cam zoom"
Meaning: a bunch of separate fixed lenses on a multi-cam phone with varying focal lengths working together to achieve zoom.
Multi-cam zoom, when marketed as "optical zoom," becomes a "marketing BS."

Anonymous, 05 Oct 2022So according to some, view from a separate sensor with longer focal length resulting in same f... moreI can't continue presenting arguments backed by sources. I have some work to do.
If you deny my comments, you also deny Wikipedia's explanation of zoom lenses.
Also, responding to the topic of fake optical zoom presented as true optical zoom is not worth your time as I added several users to my element blocker. I can't read what you said as they are all redacted, including avatars.
Anonymous, 05 Oct 2022So according to some, view from a separate sensor with longer focal length resulting in same f... moreNot at all. Presenting a product in an honest way enlightens the readers on what they are getting.
If it has fixed lenses, then it would be better to just say digital or hybrid zoom.

Honesty won't hurt anyone.
Anonymous, 05 Oct 2022So according to some, view from a separate sensor with longer focal length resulting in same f... more"stressing too much on semantics resulting into time wasting and nothing fruitful"
No. It enlightens the consumers about what exactly they are getting—fixed lenses and digital zoom. You just want to "muddy the waters" by presenting marketing terms as technical terms.

We're talking about lenses.
Fixed and zoom.
Fixed lenses are fixed. Can't zoom optically.
Zoom lenses (as seen on Xperia 1 IV's telephoto), can actually perform optical zoom.
Marketing a phone with optical zoom even though it lacks this technology is misleading, scam, and good for profit.
Telling the truth about how true optical zoom works to the public is actually hurting the sales of their products. Do you want to sell more of these? I understand.
Anonymous, 05 Oct 2022So according to some, view from a separate sensor with longer focal length resulting in same f... moreThose are separate fixed lenses. Fixed lenses can't zoom optically.
Xperia 1 IV and Galaxy S4 zoom are the only phones, to date, with true optical zooms.
You're forcing the term optical zoom too much on devices with fixed lenses. Are you from Gsmarena or Huawei?
