Huawei capped off a big announcement event earlier today where we saw the debut of the nova 11 series, Enjoy 60X and Band 8 but those weren’t the only new devices from the brand. The MateBook D14 and D16 Windows laptops were also unveiled alongside a new flagship smart TV dubbed Smart Screen S3 Pro.
Huawei MateBook D14 2023 and D16 2023
As the names suggest, the latest members of the MateBook D series come in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes with 1200 x 1920px resolution 16:10 IPS displays and Intel’s 13-gen processors with Iris Xe graphics. The 14-inch model is configurable with Core i5-1340P and Core i7-1360P CPUs while the 16-inch version can be had with up to a Core i9-1390H CPU.
Both laptops come with up to 16GB LPDDR4x RAM and 1TB NVMe PCIe SSDs. The laptops ship with Windows 11 Home Edition with the D14 2023 packing a 56Wh battery while the D16 gets a 60Wh cell. Both laptops ship with 65W power adaptors.
Huawei MateBook D14 2023 starts at CNY 5,099 ($742) for the 16/512GB trim and goes up to CNY 6,099 ($888) for the 16GB RAM and 1TB storage model.
MateBook D16 2023 starts at CNY 5,699 ($830) for the 16GB RAM and 1TB storage trim and goes up to CNY 7,199 ($1,048) for the Core i9 model. Open sales in China start on April 26.
Huawei Smart Screen S3 Pro
Huawei’s latest S-series smart TV can be had in 65-inch and 75-inch sizes. Both feature 2160 x 3840px resolution LCD panels with a 120Hz refresh rate that upscales up to 240Hz in gaming mode. The new TVs cover 92% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and can output up to 400 nits of brightness.
The software side is covered by HarmonyOS 3.1 and both sizes get 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. In terms of I/O, you get 3x HDMI 2.1 outputs, 1x AV in, 1xUSB 3.0 and 1x USB 2.0 as well as an ethernet port. You also get a magnetically attachable camera for video calls.
Pricing for the 65-inch model is set at CNY 5,999 ($873) while the 75-incher comes out to CNY 7,999 ($1,164).
It would be great to see some 2023 models with AMD's Phoenix CPUs with their RDNA 3 iGPUs
I understand tech companies follow each others trends, but copying the same design, same color (Space Gray), calling it MateBook (vs. MacBook), using the same layout for its specs page, and even similar wallpapers are too gross. I think Huawei can do...
