A couple of weeks back, we told you that Amazon has started accepting pre-orders for the Nokia 3.1 in the US, and shipments will begin July 2 onwards. Now, HMD has officially confirmed the July 2 launch for the device in the US.
In a press release, the company said the Android One phone (2GB/16GB model) will be available for purchase from Amazon and Best Buy for $159 starting July 2. Color options include Blue/Copper, Black/Chrome, and White/Iron.
Note that B&H also has the device listed on its website, but the listing just says 'coming soon,' with availability set for the beginning of July. Aside from the US, the phone is already available in a handful of markets, including Russia and Jordan.
Two years of OS updates, three years of monthly security updates. And with this MediaTek SoC it's faster than most other phones with Snapdragon 4xx chipsets in the $150-$200 range. Yeah why would anyone buy a phone like that? /sarcasm
