I am using an s21... moreGet the pixel 8 pro, as it does not get green lines, you will definitely love the UI, else a fanboy, but you will have lower battery life by an hour or less, less performance for gaming and stuff, more heating, doesn't mean it gets hot or unbearable to handle, but you may experience warmness when gaming.
So I say you go for the pixel, it has great cameras and software.
I am at a loss of what to buy currently between s23 plus and pixel 8 pro.
I am using an s21 5g version at the moment and while using it I just got a green line out of nowhere nothing happened right through my screen really sucks. Samsung has failed me really. I don't want to get a flagship phone and be scared of a green line ruining the phone. Borderline terrible. So I am thinking of getting a flagship phone that would last me a while, I game and use camera often. I am scared of green line.
So I am thinking of sticking with samsung and hopefully no green line don't want to buy another phone unless till like two years later or just going with pixel 8 pro.
S23 plus or pixel 8 pro ?
Pixel or samsung
Devilman, 04 May 2025Unfortunately at the matter of facts this phone must be used on 4g only. This may sounds odd f... moreI don't have these issues, for the 1st time with pixels I've got to say I'm impressed. (I've owned a 6 pro and currently own an 8 pro).
Have 5g and connected to WiFi all the time, constantly connected to my watch, always have GPS on for "find me" features, have brightness above half, have Google vpn on constantly too.
I've currently got 15 hours 20 mins SoT (battery is at 26%, I never charge it too 100% either, I either have the setting on for 80% or stop charging at 90-92%).
Main app used is my boy (GBA emulator) with 6 hours n 30 mins Screen time, 3 hours background. 2nd is tidal with 15 hours 18 mins background useage (constantly have it on in the apps overview "swipe up"). Voice calls is 13% of this time aswell. Web browser (I use Brave) is 3 hours 34 mins screen time. I use wallpaper engine for my background, that's the same as my total SoT and my Google watch is running in the background (guessing watch app) for 7 hours 35 mins.
I have an 8 pro so I've been super lucky.
msazal90, 09 May 2025I'm thinking on buying a used phone, either s22 ultra or pixel 8 pro. Both have relativel... moreIf the camera quality is your only concern then 8 pro any day of the week. Far better quality with pictures and video on selfie and back cams.
Plus quicker android updates and more vs the s22 series. If you're in the right countries you get screen calling (basically the assistant takes over the call and does real time transcribing, gives you clickable options if the service wants you to use your dial pad). Get Gemini from the source too and free Google vpn. Samsung could have similar things and could be as good/better, not fully sure.
S22 series is old now and atm Samsung is really messing up their software atm (no idea why it's not getting reported here, it's made out like they're doing well and previous generations aren't getting full of issues after updates or even recieving the updates lol).
I'm thinking on buying a used phone, either s22 ultra or pixel 8 pro. Both have relatively same price in the used market. My preference is Portrait mode, low light photography and selfie.
My only concern for S22 Ultra is the green line issue, and for pixel is heating issue.
Which one should I buy?
I'm just wondering with anyone else that has this phone like myself but when using the camera app, which camera is it using for 5x macro shots? I'm sure mines using the main sensor and when you then go above 5x (which should be digital) it then uses the periscope (see the change of position of the camera). Seeing if anyone else's does this?

This may sounds odd for many people but as my personal use,in order to love the pixel 8 pro I must be kept it on 4g only and eventually close all the unused apps work in background. I had a constant sot around 7/8 hours with these settings. this for the heavy users only of course
My overall experience over 9 months of usage +-
Amazing camera, you can't go wrong each picture is amazing , period
Screen is very good and bright I appreciate the natural tone calibration
Sound quality is very good and so is haptics
What I really don't like
Battery life is not on par with the competion, it won't last on a single change on 5G and this upsets me a lot. 5000mah should be able to do a lot better
Chipset , the Tensor is poor. I'm sorry but sometimes the phone stutters. The other day the phone froze I could not do anything else. It's a 12 GB ram phone, it's not normal at all
I'm wondering about other options , maybe the new Moto Edge 60 ultra who knows... Most of AI features are not present in my country anyway...
EXA83, 27 Mar 2025Yep I have the same issue even on extreme battery I chew through 50% of the battery with minimal useI don't have this issue at all, The battery on my pixel 8 Pro is actually fantastic. Even better than my old s23 Ultra. You guys must have some weird battery draining apps installed. I suggest you do a factory reset and stop installing garbage on your phones.

hi pixel fam
been a Samsung user since note 4, currently on s23 FE. The phone is decent but the battery is not up to par and I haven't been able to fall in love with it in the 6 months I have had it. I can trade it for a pixel 8 pro.
Need suggestions of current pixel 8 users. is it a good decision? how is the battery? I have heard the biometrics are okay, especially the FP sensor could have been better. Any reviews/suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Thanks
Is there a way to get rid of the widget "at a glance" from the home screen in the default launcher?
Any way to add a widget (eh. Calendar) at full screen removing the search bar and the fix apps at the bottom to use that space.
Do we need to install an alternative launcher or it can be handled somehow with the default launcher settings?
