Had 7 for a while and like it for most part, especially the camera has been nice, BUT.... recently when I had to scan an A4 paper document decided to use the 7, I discovered the camera is extremely poor at taking near field images, its sharpness degrades VERY quickly from a very small part in the center that is sharp, at the edges it is very poor.
Not sure how common this is, but I have seen some other comments on internet regarding near field images having very poor sharpness.
Had noticed before the 7 had big problems focusing on close objects, but it wasn't until now when needed to take a picture of a simple flat surface object, namely a piece of paper with black text on white, it actually can't focus nor take sharp images across the whole field, only a very small portion right in the center is sharp, it's as if the 7 suffers from extreme tunnel vision.
Some support guy on Google pretending to be a camera expert gave a ridiculous explanation that the camera sensor is so big, but how come other top mobile phone cameras with big sensor don't have this problem, it's a blatant flaw, very annoying and disappointing considering it was for me a quite expensive phone.
Would like to know how common this flaw is and if one can get it fixed on the guarantee.

Anonymous, 15 Aug 2024The P7 is on sale, roughly at the same price as the Nothing phone 2a now. Looking at the compa... moreI would take Pixel 7 over Nothing phone anyday.
Adrian, 14 Jun 2024What to choose between Pixel 7 and Galaxy A54?If you're a power user and love to ride your phone all day then Galaxy A54 fits better, but if you need a pretty good camera results in any condition or you just don't like how One UI operates, then I suggest Pixel 7.
They both have Samsung made chipset which means not a great overall efficiency and that translates into not exactly great battery results. I'm not having any issues with my Pixel 7, but i'm not a power user so be aware of it, if you are a power user. Samsung made chipsets like Exynos and Google Tensor are not having a good reputation. The problem is Samsung fabrication. TSMC continuously give better efficiency on the same or even larger node than Samsung.
Pixel 7 has a flagship grade main camera so yeah. A54 is maybe better all-rounder as it's equally strong on every field, but Pixel 7 has a fricking great main camera for the price. In earlier comments I even compared it with my ultra expensive Xperia 1 V and (main) camera results on Pixel 7 are better and more consistent in any condition. It depends on you and what do you expect from the phone.
Type comparation of phones you're interested in YouTube, Google, Yandex or whatever browser you use, just don't buy blindly believing solely in brands marketing.
Asking for people's experience is not ideal as every user is different. You could help us out a little and tell what do you expect from the phone to do and then it would be easier to determine the right choice for you.
Val, 22 Aug 2024Pixel 7 is not a good product.
I had my Pixel 7 for 1.5 year. All of these years I always he... moreCan i ask you where do you live?
I live in Split, Croatia, EU with moderate climate.
The warmest month (with the highest average max. temperature) is July (29.8°C). The month with the lowest average max. the temperature is January (10.3°C). Sure, we had temperatures rising to even 39° in summer time, but these are the average temps as i think they will give a more detailed view at our climate.
I've heard some people have issues with phone getting hot.
I'm asking what country you live because I still have the Pixel 7 in use and while it can get a little hot if you shooting pics or videos or doing anything intensive for phone on a warm and sunny day, but i didn't have such problems like you did so i assume you live in a very hot climate, having some habits from previous phone with bigger battery or simply had a bad luck when buying.
Also it depends what did you have before Pixel 7 and what are your habits on phone.
For example.
My wife likes to watch a lot of TikTok, YouTube and even Netflix series on a phone. She developed those habits because she had a device with an extremely good battery. It was a low end budget Galaxy A22, and it sucked in everything but the battery life, which was really exceptional, but I just couldn't stand her attempts to catch a good picture of our growing fast kids with that low-budget phone so I "surprised" her with a new Galaxy S23 which was better in every way possible, except the battery life. And now, she's carrying a powerbank because that phone can't do what she got used to it. She tried to tone down watching videos for so long, but that's not ideal. That's why I asked you which phone you had before and what did you do on it.
Galaxy A22 has a 5000mAh battery. I'm not some tech guru, but that alone tells me something in comparation with S23 and its 3900mAh. I knew she won't have the experience she had on Galaxy A22 battery wise and i was right. Am I genius because of that? Of course not. Just some common sense when comparing devices and their specs. Bigger battery with not so fast and flagship grade chipset will always have better battery life in the end.
Pixel 7 has ~4300mAh and my previous phone OnePlus 7 Pro had 4000mAh. As the numbers suggested i got the better in Pixel 7 and it was better. Not by a much, but still.
Galaxy S23 is a much better phone then Galaxy A22, but not in everything. Battery life can mean so much to some users. It just depends on the user. My wife is obviously a power user and needs a better battery in her next phone. I'm more into camera results and Pixels are pretty good at that field so obviously I like them even they're not on par on everything with some other competition out there.
I'm not trying to defend Pixel 7 as i'm aware it has some minor issues, but 99% of them can be solved. I made a purchase with Pixel 9 Pro this year, but Pixel 7 is still in use and in good shape, so i'm genuinely interested what are your habits on phone and what did you had before Pixel 7.
Jj, 15 Jul 2024Is it getting Hot ??Pixel 7 is not a good product.
I had my Pixel 7 for 1.5 year. All of these years I always heat problem on my phone. Fast discharge especially in video mode. For 1.5 years I did change battery, mother board and battery leakage cuntinues. Finaly, last month I went to vacation and my phone my phone was dicharged twice for 2-3 hours up to 0% power and 1 stop operation during wet weather (buttons were not operationaly.
Thanks
The P7 is on sale, roughly at the same price as the Nothing phone 2a now. Looking at the comparison tool on GSM Arena the battery life doesn't look much worse and it's a better chipset and camera. Does this look like a good deal or just too many bugs with the P7? Which do people recommend?
About a year ago I bought Pixel 7 in a local store, my country is not officially supported but you would not expect to miss out on so much, almost everything that makes pixel novel is limited to very few countries and the features that do remain are absolutely shadowed by inconsistent performance and bad thermals, since then I've swapped my phone with family member (Galaxy A52) and much happier with its performance, oh also the phone is very top heavy, you 100% need a case for it but if you are in unsupported country you'll probably have hard time finding a quality case
zoro6, 02 Aug 2024i love this phone's shape and specs, but i cant buy it because of the TERRIBLE pwmIt's true, but its blw is a strong point, and I bought it because of it.
