Samsung unveiled the entry-level Galaxy A21s powered by the Exynos 850 earlier a couple of weeks back, but now that the phone is up for purchase the Korean company finally revealed more about its new chipset.
The Exynos 850, which is the latest entry-level SoC by Samsung. It is built on the 8nm LPP process, packs eight Cortex-A55 cores with a maximum frequency of 2.0 GHz and doesn’t support any sort of 5G.
The Exynos 850, codenamed S5E3830, has an ARM Mali-G52 GPU and supports LDDR4x RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage.
Front and rear cameras up to 21.7 MP are supported, but if a manufacturer wants to employ a dual-camera setup, it is limited to 16 MP + 5 MP.
Samsung Galaxy A21sVideo support is up to 1080p at 60 fps, and the screen support maxes out at Full HD+ or 2520 x 1080 pixels. Connectivity includes 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and there is support for FM Radio. The LTE support is limited to Cat.7 downlink and Cat.13 uplink.
The Exynos 850 is already in mass production and will likely be found in more affordable smartphones and tablets in the coming months.
...turned out to be wishful thinking. In Samsung's implementations of these cores - neither A21s nor later M12 did not show better efficiency than 11nm MTK G70/G80
