The global smartphone sell-through rates have declined by 8% during the July-September period compared to values from the same period last year. The latest report from Counterpoint suggests slower consumer demand is the main factor in the dwindling sales. The market did see a slight 2% growth in Q3 compared to Q2, likely driven by last month’s iPhone 15 series launch.

Samsung retained its spot as the leading global smartphone player with an estimated 20% of total sales in Q3. Samsung’s Galaxy A-series was the key driver for the South Korean brand. Apple came in second with 16% of the market while Xiaomi rounded out the top three with its 12% share. Oppo (10%) and vivo (8%) were the remaining brands in the top five charts.

Counterpoint: Global smartphone sales declined by 8% in Q3

Honor, Huawei and Transsion Group (Tecno, Infinix, itel) were the only brands that saw positive YoY growth during the Q3 period while all of the top-five major brands (sans Apple) experienced double-digit declines on the yearly basis. Counterpoint analysts expect momentum from September to carry on to the Q4 months with strong demand to end off the year during the holiday period.

Some users also record pro videos with the Xperia 5. The Xperia 5 is like bringing the pro experience at cheaper price.

The Xperia 5 has never been billed as a "pro" phone, yet Sony also put it back on the 2020 Mk2 and keep it to this day.
