Asus Gaming Mobile hardware

Earlier this month in an ROG Pulse video, Asus announced that the upcoming Asus ROG Ally X will be launched on June 2 and that date is almost here (it’s this Sunday). The company will be livestreaming the event on YouTube and Twitch and in a tweet posted today it shared a link to the YouTube stream (which we’ve embedded at the bottom).

The tweet also featured this teaser image of the device:

There isn’t much to see – because the image is too dark and because this isn’t the Ally 2, it’s more of a version 1.5. The new model is expected to upgrade things like the storage by adding a 1TB version with a larger M.2 2280 SSD instead of the tiny 2230 SSD (which has a 512GB capacity). The larger form factor makes upgrades easier as while 1TB and even 2TB 2230 drives do exist, they cost more than a 2280 of the same capacity.

Other expected changes are a bigger battery for longer play sessions and a new USB-C port, which could enable the console to connect to more traditional external GPU enclosures. The current Ally has a USB 3.2 Gen 2/DisplayPort 1.4 port, but it relies on the proprietary ROG XG port for external GPUs.

Upgrades that we don’t expect to see are a new display (Asus will probably stick with the same 7” 120Hz LCD) or a new APU (Ryzen Z1 Extreme is it). Those are things that will have to wait for the Asus ROG Ally 2.

Here is the YouTube livestream, the event starts on June 2 at 8:30am UTC.

I mean it's handheld predeccessor lmao, the 3DS iirc. Sorry for the confusion. I even forgot Wii U existed due to it's unpopularity.

I guess you mean predecessors. The Wii U is one of the biggest failures in console history.
