Apple Rumors

iPhone chips may soon be assembled and packaged in India, according to a new report. Apple is reportedly in early discussions with local chip manufacturers in the country to explore the possibility.

The report adds that Apple has already held talks with CG Semi, which is currently building an outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) facility in Gujarat.

Apple has never assembled or packaged chips in India, and the report suggests that the CG Semi facility could initially focus on display-related chips.

If discussions move forward, CG Semi would need to meet Apple’s stringent quality and reliability standards for any partnership to materialise. Apple is also reportedly in talks with other companies.

Currently, Apple is said to source its display driver integrated circuits (DDICs) from suppliers such as Samsung, Himax, LX Semicon, and Novatek, all of which operate manufacturing facilities in South Korea, Taiwan, or China.

Over the past several years, Apple has steadily expanded manufacturing of its products in India. For instance, the entire iPhone 17 lineup for the US market is made in the country.

Nah street poopers would never meet quality standards of other countries. Companies just shift to them because they are cheap and you can easily bypass labor laws.
