Apple iOS macOS Announcement Online services

Apple's big event today seems to be all about subscription services. Alongside Arcade, its game subscription offering, the company also unveiled Apple News+. This is a subscription that lets you access over 300 popular magazines, as well as "leading newspapers and digital publishers" for $9.99 per month.

The content is presented in a "beautiful, convenient, and curated experience" within the Apple News app. All of the free content in the Apple News app will remain accessible - think of News+ as the 'premium tier' for that, as it "adds an even more expansive collection of high-quality stories" on top of the free stuff.

Here's a non-exhaustive list of titles you'll see if you subscribe to Apple News+: The Atlantic, Better Homes & Gardens, Bon Appétit, Condé Nast Traveler, ELLE, Entertainment Weekly, ESPN The Magazine, Esquire, Food & Wine, Good Housekeeping, GQ, Health, InStyle, Martha Stewart Living, National Geographic, New York Magazine, The New Yorker, O, The Oprah Magazine, Parents, People, Real Simple, Rolling Stone, Runner’s World, Sports Illustrated, TIME, Travel + Leisure, Vanity Fair, Vogue, WIRED, Woman’s Day, The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Toronto Star, theSkimm, The Highlight by Vox, New York Magazine’s sites, Vulture, The Cut and Grub Street.

In Apple News+, magazines get richly designed layouts with animated covers, vivid photography and bold typography, optimized for iPhones, iPads, and Macs. In the Today and News+ tabs of the Apple News app, you'll see individual article and issue recommendations based on editorial curation and personalized suggestions.

The service is available today in the US and Canada (where it's priced at CAD 12.99 per month), and will launch in the UK and Australia "later this year". You can sign up for a free one-month trial, and the plan automatically renews after that ends. Through Family Sharing, up to six family members can share one Apple News+ subscription.

Never thought I would be interested in reading any magazines ever again (last time I did, it was 15 years ago) but this seems interesting. It's better than browsing stuff until you reach certain content you like, magazines are downloadable so I can r...

This is a great idea. Hope some Australian papers come on board before it launches in Australia. Have no problem paying for content, you get better researched and interesting articles.
