2024 and buying this device in 128GB for £632. BNIB but the coverage is expired. Main usage for drawing and visual etc. The pity is about Apple Pencil compatibility, not supporting the 1st generation.

1. Audio / Music - Macbook Air
2. Video / Movies - iPad Pro (Pro display mini led)
3. Books / Comics - iPad Pro
In short anything that have to deal with display, iPad Pro will be better. Unless you have a great display to hook up. And on top of that, it's better to watch media in the bed using a MBA than it is iPad pro.
What kind of gaming?
1. Casual games - iPad
2. Serious games / Steam - Macbook Air
3. Emulator - Macbook Air (unless you already have a Mac and have access to Xcode, than iPad pro)
In short, MBA if you want to have universal games, jack of all trades but master of none. There is ways to side load iPad apps etc etc. But iPad Pro will be optimised for touch games. It can play AAA games at low frame rate, without a fan, iPad Pro no such luck.
Other things to consider:
1. MBA is better multitasking, flexible, can install and run windows fast.
2. iPad Pro is ease of use, optimised apps for optimised hardware.
My point of view. Go for MBA if you do not have a Mac. Else go for iPad Pro.

Should buy an ipad or macbookI would recommend the 5th generation iPad Air or the 9th generation iPad if it's solely being used for media consumption. The 5th gen iPad Air is kind of just like a fancier version of the 9th generation iPad but with a couple of shiny features (such as centerstage) tacked on. As long as you're okay with having a larger bezel and a home button and you don't really care about some of things added to the iPad Air, then definitely go for the 9th gen iPad.
