Apple App Store award winners for 2022 announced

The tenth annual Apple App Store awards are in and the best apps and games for 2022 as picked by the App Store editorial team are now crowned. The categories span the best apps and games for the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. We also have winners for the Apple Watch app of the year, Apple Arcade game of the year and five Cultural Impact winners.

BeReal is the big winner taking home iPhone App of the year. The social media app lets users share a photo from their selfie and rear cam once a day. Once your daily capture is posted, you can see what you friends are doing from their posts.

EA’s Apex Legends Mobile is the iPhone game of the year. The strategy-based battle royale shooter brings the legendary characters from the Apex Legends series to a mobile multiplayer experience.

Gentler Streak is the Apple Watch App of the year. The goal of this wellbeing app is to help users balance their fitness and rest.

GoodNotes 5 earns the iPad App of the year title. It’s a note-taking app that offers class-leading Apple Pencil support, collaboration tools and PDF markup.

Moncage is the iPad Game of the year. It’s a fresh take on the puzzle adventure genre that with all levels taking place inside a mysterious cube with unique designs for each level.

MacFamillyTree 10 is the Mac App of the year. It’s a genealogy software program that lets users generate family trees and add diagrams, statistics, photos and sound clips.

El Hijo from developer HandyGames is the Apple TV Game of the Year. This stealth game set in the Wild West, follows the adventures of a six year old orphan boy who navigates through life’s challenges.
