An online retailer takes pre-orders for the Sony Xperia XZ3, price and specs revealed

Sony Android Rumors

A British online retailer claims to have the key specs of the device along with the official pricing for the UK. And that's not all - there's a page open up for pre-orders that actually works. Still, it seems a bit fishy considering the Xperia XZ3 is due for release during this year's IFA in September.

Anyway, let's assume the store has a solid source. The listing reveals some of the key specs, which are in contrast to what we've heard so far. We've had a GFXBench listing pointing at QHD+ screen (1440 x 2880) and a 5.9-inch display. Then again, Sony has never had a QHD screen on its phones and historically, the second installment of its mainstream flagships each year poses a minor upgrade to the original.

That's why most of the specs on the pre-order page are straight up taken from the Xperia XZ2 except the camera setup and the battery. Rumor has it that the XZ3 will inherit the 19MP + 12MP camera configuration from the Xperia XZ2 Premium so we believe the listed cameras are most probably accurate. And as for the battery, we see an incremental update (from 3,180 mAh up to 3,240 mAh) in this regard while the source also mentions a small decrease in thickness - down to 10.1mm.

The store now takes pre-orders and the final retail price is €849 ($988) - that's quite the hefty price tag and comes pretty close to the current top-shelf flagship from the company, the Xperia XZ2 Premium. And that's for the 6GB/64GB configuration.

We suggest you take this leak with a healthy portion of skepticism as it's way too early for a phone that isn't close to being announced to be on pre-order.

The thick back is designed to house the camera modules, with 7 lenses and the Aube image processor. That is why the cameras are located in the centre of the back, where the phone is the thickest. That affected the placement of the fingerprint sensor,...
