Apple and Google's 2019 flagship smartphones are all rumored to have huge squircle-shaped camera islands on their backs, but Huawei has already been there, done that - with the Mate 20 Pro last year. The phone's successor, however, may be going another way entirely.
According to an image outed today that purports to show the back glass for Huawei's upcoming Mate 30 Pro, this time around the Mate flagship will employ a circular camera island, leaving Apple and Google to fight for the "best squircle" awards.
That is, of course, if this is legit - which it very well may not be, given that we're still many months away from the Mate 30 Pro's debut. Still, Huawei's hasn't been one to shy away from new designs here and there, so it's certainly plausible that it would go this route in 2019. We'll have to wait for more Mate 30 leaks to appear in order to get even a semblance of confirmation for this.
The Mate 30 Pro should be powered by the Kirin 985 chipset, and it will unsurprisingly have a 5G version too - that one employing the company's own Balong 5000 modem.
Same reason why I like Nokia's designs. They look super no-nonsense but look and feel premium even without huge specs
