Dear Anon in Cape Town, ANY 12v 1.5 AMP charger will work. The beauty of the tablet is it has 2 battery cell sets and needs a dedicated 12V charger. This tablet WILL NOT charge on the USB. The Cheap Multi-chargers you can buy (with the power selector) WILL WORK, but will only give 0.8-1.0 amps, making charging a bit slow.Having said that, s alower charge at least, won't overcharge the battery

The mini SIM format is actually the first size smaller than the original credit-card sized SIM. If there really is no SIM slot inside, then that would be an issue with manufacturing or handling by any intermediate owners...

The 501 cannot be upgraded past ... moreI have the same model on ics 4.0 and what i did was install the official ics for a500 on that unit and it works fine i just cant use sim cards anymore but at least everything else still works including external hard drives with ntfs file systems perfectly

My 2 Acer Iconia 501 10 inch tablets have become door stops. The 501 cannot be upgraded past Android 3.2 even with the patch installed. Google Play Store does not now support the browser that is in 3.2 . Early on we discovered (our company purchased 150 of them) the power buttons were not mechanically fastened to the system board. They were held in place only by the 3 small signal pins on the switch. Many of them were pressed inside the case. Acer would not remedy the problem. These mobile devices cost too much to have to buy new ones every time the OS changes. Acer makes great PCs. They should stick to doing what they know how to do. I am done with them. You can find a charger on Amazon.

acer icono a501 product review showed that the tab should have a sim port. mine has but it does not work because it does not have a sim slot inside unlike the micro sd. if you put sim card inside it, it will just slide down. are there really acer iconia a501 unit that don't have sim slots? why doesn't it say so in the product review? why put a sim port if it's not gonna work? acer iconia tab a501-16gb/35020457-purchased in the US. and also, i cant use my broadband through USB port. i don't have wifi at home so this tab for sure is sooo efffffinn uselessss... cant access internet through sim coz doesn't have sim slot... what does this thing do? this product is a joke!!! can somebody answer my questions please???
